Turning Awareness Into Action

Awareness alone is not enough.

At WE ARE NOT DIFFERENT CIC, we work to turn greater understanding into practical action that helps protect vulnerable children.

Our work focuses on education, safeguarding, family support, advocacy and public awareness.

We work with communities, families, parents, leaders, faith groups and schools to challenge harmful beliefs and promote a better understanding of developmental differences.

Community Education Workshops

We deliver community education workshops designed to help people better understand autism, Down syndrome and developmental differences.

Our aim is to provide knowledge that challenges myths and misconceptions and encourages more compassionate and informed attitudes towards children and families.

We replace myths with science.

Safeguarding Training for Faith Groups & Schools

Faith groups and schools can play an important role in protecting vulnerable children.

We provide safeguarding-focused education to help organisations understand the importance of recognising harmful beliefs and ensuring children are treated safely, respectfully and appropriately.

Our work encourages environments where safeguarding and the wellbeing of children come first.

Family Support & Advocacy

Families need understanding and support, particularly when they are facing stigma, misinformation or harmful beliefs about their child.

Our family support and advocacy work aims to help families access information, understand their options and advocate for the needs and wellbeing of their children.

No family should feel alone because of misunderstanding or stigma.

Public Awareness Campaigns

We use public awareness campaigns to challenge harmful stereotypes and encourage wider conversations about autism, Down syndrome and developmental differences.

By sharing accurate information and real stories, we aim to help change attitudes and challenge beliefs that can place vulnerable children at risk.

Disability Education for Parents & Leaders

Parents and community leaders can have a significant influence on how children with developmental differences are understood and treated.

We provide disability education that encourages greater knowledge, compassion and understanding.

Our goal is to help communities recognise that difference should not be feared or associated with harmful myths.
